Since last many years, employers have been using the old traditional method of recruitment and talent attraction. However, due to its stereotyped nature, they also wanted to experiment innovation and were feeling the need to utilise social platforms for better connectivity and for direct contact with candidates.
LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter therefore came up as varied options for making recruitment process better. In fact, such social media these days are fast becoming the way to sell their firms and vacancies to relevant and talented people.
Further, it also becomes important for employers to display their brand to employees as recruitment is a one-way process and both parties are interested to know each other at length. Thus, they reach out such candidates through social media and highlight their firms as effective workplaces. The social media come as a win-win deal for them as they promote their brand and engage some able candidates who are fit for jobs.
Going extra miles, employers are creating suitable content these days for each social platform. They are investing more in social media to ensure they get an effective response from candidates. However, the ratio of social media is much more in IT companies. Also, employers from digitally-oriented companies are making higher use of social media to attract and retain talent.
Meanwhile, several surveys have been conducted on employers which reveal that the use of social media has increased. However, many employers are yet to make an active presence there. In fact, fifty per cent do not even bother to measure their social media effectiveness.
Therefore, we can conclude that the social media has made its mark in recruitment process, however, much planning and strategizing is the need of the hour.
